Dan Deacon Played Pitchfork Festival in Chicago This Weekend, Failed To Have AGT Lovefest

It is worth noting that my Chicago vacation coincided with the Pitchfork Music Festival, which I did not attend. Why? One reason is that Pitchfork is an online zine that you love or hate, and I generally hate it. I just can't get down with their whole hipster agenda. Sure, I would have loved to have seen Slint, Cat Power (still listening to The Greatest, Chan. . .brilliant record!), etc., but I don't think I could take 3 hours (not to mention 3 days) with a bunch of white belts and pencil jeans. And hearing a bunch of suburbans and middle-class urbanites getting live with Clipse and drug violence . . . I'm getting ill.

Brooklyn Vegan, however, has an interesting article about the Fire Marshal shutting down Dan Deacon and Girl Talk because their sets drew massive crowds. Cool pictures of the Deac on BV, looking a bit rotund and without his usual uber-geek glasses (see above and at BV's site. . .how about that gingerly redhead looking enamored with Dan Deacon?). It's alright, Danners, I'm four-eyed and kind of round myself. But there I was, in the Chi, and another person was there reppin' Balto, and you left me hanging, Dan. You left me hanging and didn't get in touch so we could hold hands and walk through Millenium Park together. See if I come to your set at Whartscape this weekend!

Clipse Confirmed To Headline Seagram's Live 2007

Seagram's Live 2007 will hit 11 cities in one month, and Clipse will headline, as previously expected. DC gets represented, as the show will hit the 9:30 Club on 4/21.

Clipse Gets a Headlining Tour

Clipse is apparently headlining the 2007 Seagram's Gin Live Tour, and tickets are available for the April 26 show at the BB King Blues Bar & Grill in New York. Source: Soundslam

Speaking of Clipse, BrooklynVegan reports that their Webster Hall show in NYC has moved to the smaller Bowery Ballroom, "which is great for everyone in attendance, except maybe Clipse." True!

The Clipse at Sound Garden in Baltimore; Internet Problems

Who knows what it is. I came home from Thanksgiving dinner on Thursday night, and couldn't get online. I checked everything out, connections were proper, lights were on, but no one was home. Verizon tested the line, and thinks the modem has died. They also claimed there was an access restriction on my account, and that turned out to not be the case, according to billing. OK, fine. But for now I have no internet at home, and can't really generate material to do my posts. So I'll be lean on postings for a few days until the new modem arrives, and hopefully that will solve the problem.



More interestingly to readers, however, The Clipse will be at Sound Garden in Baltimore on Wednesday, Nov. 29 at 6:30 PM. College kids all over will unite to discuss their trust funds over some grimy cocaine rap.

New This Tuesday, November 28: The Clipse, Incubus, And More

Coming out on Tuesday, November 28: The new Clipse, "Hell Hath No Fury". Delayed repeatedly, almost shelved by their label, but now it's coming out. Also, Incubus "Light Grenades", Too $hort "Hits", and the Foo Fighters "Skin & Bones" DVD.

And my blog was on 25 Peeps, the pure trash facebook of the blogosphere, for 20 hours and generated 20 clicks. Since I'm not a female and not willing to bare my flesh, I didn't outlast this guy who cleverly made his tooshie look like chest cleavage rather than butt cleavage. I'll bow to that clever marketing step, though. No hard feelings. Though it is interesting that i signed up in September, and only got on just yesterday.

Hanson Has Something In Common With Wilco, Nellie McKay, Clipse, Fiona Apple; Hall of Fame Hopefuls '07; Jacko In Public!

1998's favorite boy pop rockers, Hanson, have created a documentary film called "Strong Enough To Break" about their struggles with their then-record label. After Island/Def Jam gave them grief, the boys independently released their album "Underneath" in 2004. I just can't believe their last album sold 137,000 copies. Wow. Source: Billboard
Fans of Wilco, Nellie McKay, Clipse, and Fiona Apple will recognize the issue of label heads claiming an album doesn't have a single or isn't radio friendly or something to that effect, and pushing it into purgatory. While some are able to get the label to finally release the album, others have to get out of their contracts and release the record themselves.



Michael Jackson will be making a rare public appearance when he accepts the Diamond Award for selling 100 million albums. I find it hard to believe that Mariah Carey beat him to it. Other recipients include Rod Stewart, Bon Jovi, and Celine Dion. No Neil Diamond? Source: Reuters
Congrats to Michael because, personal issues aside, he is one of the greatest pop performers of our time.



Icons REM are eligible for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2007. Also included are Van Halen (Will Diamond Dave and Sammy Hagar argue about who's the best?), The Stooges, Patti Smith, The Dave Clark Five, and Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, to name a few. I think the Dave Clark Five definitely deserve the nod, since they forged the way for the British Invasion of the '60s.
