Led Zeppelin One-Off Reunion Show, Possibly A World Tour

Led Zeppelin

DISCLAIMER: This might be unsubstantiated, and should only be taken at face value. Which, coming from a blog, means a plug nickel. And coming from me, less.

A Gigwise report states that we may see a one-off Led Zeppelin reunion in honor of the passing of Ahment Ertegun, founder of Atlantic Records. As you read this, thousands of Zep fans are re-reading The Lord of the Rings to bone up on the obscure lyrical references on the off chance Page and Co. might embark on a world tour.

World tour? Ah, yes! If the one-off London show goes well, the surviving band members (Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, and John Paul Jones. The late John Bonham's son, Jason, will join on drums) are willing to climb the "Stairway to Heaven" as long as the chemistry gets kept from the "Gallows Pole".

Unsubstantiated rumors and lousy puns. Only here, folks. Only here.

Smashing Pumpkins Lineup Finally Revealed

Smashing Pumpkins original lineup

Finally! Smashing Pumpkins have taken the lid off the jar and told us the official lineup: Billy Corgan and Jimmy Chamberlin, of course, but here's the news: guitarist Jeff Schroeder (The Lassie Foundation), bassist Ginger Reyes (Halo Friendlies), and keyboardist Lisa Harriton have joined the band for their stage lineup. No James Iha, no D'Arcy, no Auf der Maur. No word yet, officially, on who actually recorded the forthcoming album.

Scratch James and D'Arcy from that photo.....nevermore!

Slash Won't Deny Possibility of Guns N' Roses Reunion

Slash

Slash has stated he wants Velvet Revolver to stop playing Guns N' Roses (still no Chinese Democracy?) and Stone Temple Pilots songs, and wants the two groups (GNR and Stone Temple Pilots) to get back together, if only "just for the fun of it."

I guess it's up to Axl to give up the ghost on Chinese Democracy, and give peace a chance.

Thanks to Kristen for pointing out this story!

James Iha, D'Arcy Out On Smashing Pumpkins Reunion

Smashing Pumpkins

James Iha has denied any involvement with the Smashing Pumpkins reunion, telling Rolling Stone, “No, I’m not part of the current Smashing Pumpkins album or tour, I haven’t spoken to Billy in years."

I am not at all surprised that Iha won't be participating, but who will be taking his place? And can the band be as good without their axe man? What do you think? Let me know who you think should play guitar in Iha's place, and whether anyone can do it as well.

Oh, and no D'Arcy on bass, or at least that's what's been alluded to. Auf der Maur has said she'd be more than happy to help out.
